"流连" refers to "being attracted and unwilling to return", and the objects are limited to places and environments that can be enjoyed and viewed such as natural scenery and scenic spots. "留恋" refers to "being attached and unable to bear to leave". The objects usually are people or things that have been closely related to one's own experience, such as hometown, alma mater, and relatives. 2."流连" cannot be written as "留连".
