好歹

wǒ xī wàng tā hǎo tā fǎn ér bù zhī hǎo dǎi

我希望他好，他反而不知好歹。

I just want the best for him, but he is so foolish.

zhè rén zhēn shi bù zhī hǎo dǎi

这人真是不知好歹。

This person cannot tell good from bad.

bù guǎn hǎo dǎi zhè shì yǐ jīng zuò le

不管好歹，这事已经做了。

Well, it's done now, for good or ill.

bìng rén yǒu shén me hǎo dǎi zhè kě zěn me bàn

病人有什么好歹，这可怎么办？

What will we do if anything happens to the patient?

wàn yī tā yǒu gè hǎo dǎi wǒ men děi chéng dān zé rèn ya

万一他有个好歹，我们得承担责任呀！

Should anything happen to him, we have to take the responsibility.
